What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for GFRP rebar?
Our standard MOQ is 500 kg (approximately 1,100 lbs) for stocked diameters such as 10mm and 12mm. For non-standard sizes or custom configurations, the MOQ is typically 1,000 kg. For container-size orders (20 ft or 40 ft containers), we offer the best pricing and fastest lead times. We are flexible and can accommodate smaller trial orders for testing and evaluation purposes — please contact us with your specific requirements.
Can I request free samples or a trial order before purchasing in bulk?
Absolutely. We offer free samples of our GFRP rebar in standard diameters (10mm, 12mm, 16mm) for evaluation purposes. Sample lengths are typically 30-50 cm (12-20 inches). The buyer only covers shipping costs. For trial orders, we can accommodate small quantities of 50-100 kg at sample pricing. What is GFRP rebar and how does it differ from traditional steel rebar?
GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) rebar is a high-strength composite reinforcement bar made from continuous glass fibers embedded in a vinyl ester or epoxy resin matrix. Unlike traditional steel rebar, GFRP rebar is completely corrosion-resistant, has a tensile strength 2-3 times higher than steel of the same diameter, weighs only one-quarter of steel, and is non-conductive and non-magnetic. It is the ideal replacement for steel rebar in corrosive environments such as marine structures, chemical plants, bridge decks, and wastewater facilities.
How does the cost of GFRP rebar compare to epoxy-coated or stainless steel rebar?
While the upfront cost of GFRP rebar is generally higher than black steel rebar per linear foot, it is very competitive with epoxy-coated rebar and significantly less expensive than stainless steel rebar. More importantly, when you factor in life-cycle costs — including transportation (GFRP is 75% lighter), installation labor (fewer workers needed), elimination of future corrosion repairs, and extended structure lifespan — GFRP rebar often delivers the lowest total-cost-of-ownership. Our GFRP rebar is available in standard diameters from 6mm to 32mm (No. 2 through No. 10 in imperial sizes), with the most popular diameters being 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, and 20mm for construction applications. Standard lengths range from 3m to 12m (10 ft to 40 ft). We also offer custom cut lengths to match your project specifications. Custom diameters can be produced for large-volume orders.
What is the tensile strength of your GFRP rebar?
Our GFRP rebar meets or exceeds ASTM D7957 standards with tensile strengths ranging from 700 MPa to 1,200 MPa (100-175 ksi), depending on diameter. For example, our standard 12mm GFRP rebar has a minimum tensile strength of 900 MPa. Unlike steel which yields plastically, GFRP rebar exhibits linear-elastic behavior up to failure. We provide certified mill test reports with every shipment documenting actual tensile test results.
Is your GFRP rebar certified to ASTM standards?
Yes, our GFRP rebar is manufactured in compliance with ASTM D7957/D7957M — the standard specification for solid round glass fiber reinforced polymer bars for concrete reinforcement. What is the typical lead time for GFRP rebar orders?
For standard diameter sizes in stock, we can ship within 7-10 business days after order confirmation. For production orders (non-standard sizes or large quantities exceeding 10 tons), typical lead time is 15-25 business days depending on volume. We recommend placing orders 4-6 weeks ahead of your required delivery date for international shipments to account for production and ocean freight transit time. Express air freight is available for urgent small orders.
How is GFRP rebar packaged for international shipping?
Our GFRP rebar is carefully packaged for export. Standard packaging includes: (1) bundles secured with heavy-duty polyester strapping, (2) wrapped in waterproof polyethylene sheeting, (3) labeled with product specifications, heat numbers, and batch codes. For container shipments, bars are loaded in 20 ft or 40 ft open-top containers or flat racks. Smaller orders are packed in wooden crates or palletized cardboard boxes. We also use fumigated wooden packaging for compliance with ISPM-15 international shipping regulations.
